• First is fly-chat for such topics like weather; it is light, shallow, used as incidental necessity. It resembles the curvy, sudden flying path of a noisy fly.
• Second is sparrow-chat like the one we have with a neighbor, a distant friend. It is genuine, but with moderate interest and involvement.
• Third is canary-chat in which we do feel some involment, yet still superficiality.
• Lastly, the fourth is non-chat; this is a stairway leading to friendship and intimacy.

From within the extended family with uncles, aunts, and brothers, sisters, cousins, and children, nephews, nieces, and grand children to the outer world of friends and acquaintances, be it old-timers or newly met, in working places or for recreation, even in religious congregations, do we ever realize what communication style is dominant ? I bet most of the time we exchange some weather comments, unharmful, but also not beneficial either. I wish the communication would transcend at least to the third level canary-chat as indicated above, this is exactly the motive for this website.

Every one can be thought as the center of many concentric circles called circles of concerns: the smaller circle with a darker color represents items of the utmost interests which consume most of our energy and resources. For example, one person puts into the inner circle of concern his or her desires to get as much money as he or she can. For another person's inner circle, his concerns are to attain the serenity for the mind and the health for the body, everything else is not much relevant. Those poeple's sets of circles may lie completely outside from each other, or may overlap, or even superimpose. In Oriental literature, this common area was referred to as "duyên" which draws people far away into "phùng" (close), and if "duyên" lacks, even in proximity, people just "ngộ" (meet). What is the nature of the encounter between you and me ? This website is intended as a common ground for you to stay if we have "phùng", or else I bid you "happy net surfing" if we have "ngộ".

This website is also specifically dedicated to my extended family and my closest friends who would come here to enjoy our shared interests, for example a well written piece of literature, or something beneficial or informative. As such, we would feel closer thanks to this virtual cyberspace. But, just because of its accessibility to the general public, I can't leave any trace of personal data here. • Thứ hai là loại chim (sparrow-chat), đường bay đã thẳng, rộng rãi hơn, nhưng cũng chưa đi vào những chủ đề chung, chưa ràng buộc; đó là câu chuyện trong chỗ sơ giao.
• Thứ ba là loại chim đất (canary-chat), đã chịu đi bộ trên mặt đất thực tế, quên đi cái không gian viển vông; trong câu chuyện loại này người đối thoại đã biết chia xẻ những chủ đề chung, muốn chung sức đóng góp, tuy nhiên vẫn còn hời hợt bề mặt.
• Sau cùng, thứ tư là không phải chuyện phiếm (non-chat), đây mới thật là cầu thang để ta leo lên tình bạn chân thật thắm thiết.

Trong là đại gia đình có chú bác, anh em, con cháu; ngoài là bạn bè có lớp cũ, lớp mới, chổ làm việc, chỗ vui chơi, kể cả bạn đạo trong chỗ tu học, với tất cả quý vị như thế, liệu hỏi câu chuyện của chúng ta ở mức độ nào ? Hãy tưởng tượng mỗi người là một tâm điểm, từ đó phóng ra nhiều vòng tròn đồng tâm, cái gần thì đậm, cái xa thì nhạt; tạm gọi là những vòng quan tâm (circles of concerns), cho thấy những điều làm ta bận tâm mà hướng nghị lực của ta vào để thực hiện. Chẳng hạn với một người thì vòng gần nhất, đậm nhất là làm sao kiếm cho được nhiều tiền. Lại có người đặt chuyện tinh thần cho thoải mái, thể xác mong được khỏe mạnh, mọi chuyện khác thì cứ tùy thôi, đó là cái vòng gần nhất, đậm nhất của người này.
Những vòng tròn đó có thể ở ngoài nhau, có thể cắt nhau thành một khoảng chung, và hy hữu hơn nữa, có thể trồng khít lên nhau. Cái đó người xưa gọi là "hữu duyên thiên lý năng tương ngộ, vô duyên đối diện bất tương phùng" vậy. Giữa quý vị và tôi, chúng ta "ngộ" hay "phùng" ? Mạng điểm này lập ra để có một miếng đất chung, nếu "phùng", quý vị lưu lại lâu, nếu chỉ "ngộ" xin chúc quý vị lướt đi (net surfing) cho vui vẻ.

Riêng với anh em, con cháu trong nhà, cũng như với chỗ thâm giao cố cựu, mạng điểm này còn lập ra để chung ta chia xẻ những điều tha thiết, có thể là một áng văn hay, có thể là đôi điều học hỏi. Only some introductory pages are bilingual English and Vietnamese, all others are strictly Vietnamese (a way to encourage learning the mother tongue for my offsprings !). • While browsing this website, just read from top to bottom, hit PageDown or SpaceBar to get the next screen. When you are prompted click the mouse pointing to a certain spot, do that and you are presented with a new article. Usually at the end of an article, you would see Đọc Tiếp then click it to return to where you left off. You can also use the LeftArrow on the ToolBar to return to a previous spot. If you need to quit browsing, click Favorites, then Add, then type in a tag as your reminder, such tag as ABC. The next time you are online with Internet, click Favorites, then ABC, you are back to where you left off. A complete browsing of this website requires more than one sitting, so please keep those tips in mind.
• You shoudld be aware that you can change the font size to bigger or smaller size as you wish. For Internet Explorer as an example, click View, Fonts, Larger. You can also maximize the screen or set to any size you prefer. For example, hit F11 to maximize the screen, F11 again to restore its size. This website try to avoid those fancy gimmicks (animation, java scripts), and try to promote the most efficient communication.
• As mentioned earlier, the best way is to let the website introduce itself to you: click whenever and wherever you are prompted, click Đọc Tiếp as it is displayed. • Quý vị nên nhớ rằng ta có thể đọc chữ cho to hơn hay nhỏ hơn tùy thích, vậy chớ vội than phiền chữ nhỏ quá. Chẳng hạn với Internet Explorer, click View, Fonts, Larger. Quý vị cũng có thể mở rộng hay thu hẹp màn ảnh lại, chẳng hạn bấm F11 màn ảnh to ra, nhấn F11 lần nữa, nó thu lại như cũ.
